Research on the Administrative and Sacred Buildings of the Perso-Anatolian Culture and their Connection with their Environment in the Persian Satrapal Centre Dascyleum

We considered within our project titled “Research on the Administrative and Sacred Buildings of the Perso-Anatolian Culture and their Connection with their Environment in the Persian Satrapal Centre Dascyleum” the data gained as a result of a multi-disciplinary study which includes science and disciplines such as Archaeology, Art History, Ancient History and Languages, Geology, Geophysics Engineering and Cartograpy.

Especially the period between 546-334 BCE when Anatolia was under the Persian rule forms the main character of Dascyleum. The aim is solving important problems concerning the period’s settlement and architectural character. Investigations were not only on the archaeology, but also research on geomorphological evolution of Hisar Tepe and its vicinity, geophysical measurements, topographical mapping and grid application, discovering Dascyleum’s traces in ancient literature and epigraphically works and three dimensional modeling of some of the buildings are carried out for the purpose of understanding the settlement’s character.

Alongside these works and research we designed a database special for Dascyleum Excavations which trough, every find and data obtained beginning from the first digs are ensured in a steady and easily reached manner.
